2021 Art Journal Challenge, Day 7: A Bouquet for You

I'd love to send you a whole bunch of flowers...

There's so much freedom in creating these colorful, sweet-smelling creations! In this session I'm sharing some new tools, and then showing you a few simple ways to create some cute floral art.

The video below was filmed to show you a few of the materials in my demonstrations. There are so many choice mediums to work with when you're creating art! Different ones appeal to different people, so maybe you'll see something here you'd like to try.

The Portfolio Water Soluble Oils and the Reeves Water Soluble Wax are both fun and they're student grade materials that are modestly priced. Update: When I went to Amazon to get the links, the smaller sets were not available. You can find these in most art supply stores for less.

The next two are an investment.

The Caran D'Ache Neocolor 2 Water soluble wax is a hard crayon that is highly pigmented and is opaque when you wet it. It can be built up in layers. I love mine, and have given you the link to the set I purchased for myself last year. There are smaller sets available. But...the colors! wow.

Derwent Inktense comes in both pencils and sticks (they call them blocks). They are very much like a  highly pigmented watercolor. Derwent claims that once dry, the color is like ink and is permanent, but I did a little experiment and was able to move the color a little. What I love about these is that they are like watercolor pencils on steroids. Inktense is truly INTENSE. Such fun to use, because when you even color lightly on paper with them then touch them with a wet brush the color just explodes. Amazing.
